NPEC History

The National Pressure Equipment Conference was initiated by the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), and the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) in 1997 as the 1st Annual Pressure Equipment Industry Conference. Since it's inception, the Conference has provided a venue for industry representatives to exchange information and experiences.  NPEC became the International Pressure Equipment Integrity Association in 2004.

The focus of the Conference is to allow the pressure equipment industry, provincial regulators, pressure equipment owner users, manufacturers and service companies to develop and grow our industry toward greater safety and reliability. The movement to mandatory owner user programs for the pressure industry by the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) was the catalyst to kick-off our first conference. Although our focus and audience is broader today in terms of scope and geography, the conference cornerstone of industry working with jurisdictions and educators remains.

Today IPEIA is not only supported by it's original sponsors, but the list has grown to include:
Upstream Chief Inspectors Assocation (UCIA)
Alberta Refinery and Petrochemical Inspection Association (ARPIA)
Contract Chief Inspectors Association
The Pressure Industry Quality Assurance Society of Alberta (PIQASA)
Generation Utility Advisory Committee (GUAC)
